Life right now

Kristin has been sick with vomiting on and off for some days now, and is very lethargic. A real time of testing for me. And Kaleb has been left without a play mate. What is a boy to do? Well, he has been quite innovative in turning his boredom into his (and our) entertainment. He's a hoot!

Meanwhile, their mother still behaves like a crazed tourist and takes pictures of random houses and streets. But really, the slippery roads and bother of digging, and digging, and digging snow away is soon forgotten when you drive down the road and encounter the following:

(I took the camera with me when I went to fetch Kaleb from preschool. This is my neighbourhood. It is even better in real life. I am still amazed at how much my environment changes every season.)

Besides playing nurse, the crazed tourist, and entertainer for a 3 year old, I have been playing chef. hehe. I love food, no ... love does not capture it, it is far deeper and more intimate than that.

Last night I tried a recipe from my new Jamie Oliver cookbook (thank you Jack and Marit!)
It was YUM. Pork chops, roast potatoes and coleslaw (there is a reason that cabbage is ever only eaten when smothered with large amounts of mayonnaise or sauce or sugar).

And that presentation satisfies my heart obsession, if you visited me you would realise I have one.

Miss you mom and dad, all the way out there in the sweltering heat, in the familiar, precious Hermanus. Love you!
